Calendar of important Tiantai / Tendai observances
Dharma Year
Dharma Year 2026 is a year-long reflection from the Tiantai Buddhist Calendar Project, offering weekly contemplations drawn from the Mahāyāna sutras. Each reflection explores a theme inspired by Tiantai and Tendai teachings, from the Lotus Sutra’s vision of universal enlightenment to Zhiyi’s methods of meditation and mindfulness in daily life.

About Dharma Year 2026
Starting January 1 2026, subscribers will receive one short reading and reflection each week, focused on bringing the timeless wisdom of the Buddha’s words into present-moment awareness.
This year’s theme, “You Are Non-Self,” invites gentle inquiry into impermanence, emptiness, and interdependence, core insights of the Tiantai tradition. Whether you’re new to Buddhism or deepening your existing practice, Dharma Year 2026 offers a calm, structured rhythm for study and contemplation.
A weekly email on Thursdays, aligned with lunar observances from the Tiantai Calendar.
Short quotes from the Mahāyāna sutras, with a reflection grounded in Tiantai philosophy.
Occasional notes on seasonal practice: Uposatha, Lotus Sutra recitation, and meditative observances.
All reflections archived here for open reading throughout 2026.
